About Chef Greg Lutes: Lutes first fell in love with cooking while growing up in a small farm community 120 miles north of Chicago, where farm-to-table was was a daily way of life. Early in his career while working the line at legendary Michelin starred Everest in Chicago under Chef Jean Joho, Lutes was exposed to a vast array of impeccable ingredients and culinary techniques that still guide him like a compass in the kitchen today. Lutes went on to expand his culinary arsenal at highly esteemed restaurants like Chef Daniel Boulud’s Daniel in NYC and Chef Gerard Parrat’s Relais d’Lyon in Seattle. In 2006, Lutes took over Cellar Door restaurant in the Groveland Hotel near Yosemite National Park, where he held dual roles as General Manager and Executive Chef. After moving to San Francisco, he helmed the stoves of Skates on the Bay and Lot 7 before opening pop-up restaurant Kinfolk in October 2013. After a successful Kickstarter campaign in late 2014, he was able to turn Kinfolk into 3rd Cousin, a brick and mortar restaurant that provides a Michelin quality, fine-dining experience in a relaxed and welcoming family atmosphere. Lutes is truly passionate about his craft, taking seasonal, local and organic ingredients and channeling it onto the plates using his creativity while keeping his cuisine very approachable.
