2017 Jade Lake Series - Final Collection
One of the most prominent features of the Chateau Montelena Estate is Jade Lake. Built by Yort Wing Frank and his wife Jeanie in 1958, the lake features two islands connected by bridges. The islands are adorned with six-sided red Chinese pavilions that look out over the 11 acre lake; their rooflines are highlighted by six mythical creatures inspired from a design at the Palace of Harmony in the Forbidden City in Beijing. In this third and final collection, we highlight the fifth and sixth from our roofline: the supreme dragon and the horse of heaven.
Spicy and savory, our Malbec opens with black pepper, plum sauce, and fresh leather. A swirl of the glass reveals a steady progression of blackberry, coffee, and cherry tobacco with a subtle earthy undertone. The texture is supple and fresh with bright red fruit notes and soft, well-integrated tannins. As the fruit begins to recede, the minerality correspondingly begins to build along with hints of kirsch, mint, and juniper.
2014 Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc
Sometimes life is just about a delicous glass of wine, great company, and an amazing evening with no pretense. Enter our Jade Lake Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc featuring a dynamic interplay of sugar and acid bolstered by lemon drops and candied orange, with this inherent sweetness tempered by subtle notes of toasty oak and caramel. Rather than being an incredibly viscous wine, instead the richness comes through via the diversity of flavors and textures, some from the variety and some from the cellar.
Limited in production, our members have the first opportunity to obtain this two bottle set. Available while supplies last.
