2010 Potter Valley Riesling
Nose Layers of floral notes - orange blossom and honeysuckle, along with ripe orange, lime, apricot, and white melon fruits, all accented with sweet clove and nutmeg spice tones.
Palate Soft, round and fleshy on the palate, this wine shows a strong acid backbone without pronounced tartness.
Finish Rich, smooth, and juicy with nice density throughout, there are layers of white peach, apricot, white melon, and Rangpur lime leading into the long, warm and spicy finish.
It was a late harvest for the entire north coast, and Potter Valley was no exception. Coming in at the end of October, the Riesling was one of several grapes that contributed to our Halloween theme of “Tired Grubby Cellar Workers.” The late October harvest allowed for excellent time on the vine, full maturity, and just a touch of Botrytis this season.
