An Ode to Chocolate

It is no secret that I love chocolate.  I even have a “chocolate stash” in a secret compartment of my desk (saved only for those moments when the sweet tooth rages it’s ugly head, which is often…usually daily).  I really enjoying discovering new chocolate brands and/or flavor combinations, particularly chocolate of the dark variety.  Just [...]

My Friends with Wine

As I conclude the July 4th holiday and get ready to head out for a real R&R vacation in the beautiful state of Montana, I’ve realized that among my many friends, I’ve grouped them into two categories.  There are those that are wine collectors, or “snobs,” and those that aren’t.  Don’t get me wrong; when I [...]

Support Your Local Farmer’s Markets

I’ve been a big advocate of local farmer’s markets for many years.  While I do ponder why the costs of fruit and veggies at these direct-to-consumer venues is as high, if not higher than, some of your finest grocery chains, I’ve also come to realize that it’s still money well spent.  Here’s why: *Quality.  Just [...]

Luxury in Calistoga: It Does Exist

If you’ve had the pleasure to visit the quaint little town of Calistoga, then you’ve enjoyed a throw back community to the new modern towns of US of A.   The town is rich with little shops, bed and breakfasts, casual dining; and most famous for the geothermal geography, which leads way to the mud and mineral baths.  [...]

I’ve definitely tasted all [...]

Best Sushi In SF? YES

Ever heard of the Dog Patch District in San Francisco?  It’s an up-and-coming neighborhood just minutes south of the Giants ballpark.  This used to be the neighborhood of shipping commerce, canners, butchers….  and the story goes, homeless dogs roamed these parts in search of scraps.  Well, that’s what I’m told.  Today, it’s a part of SF’s [...]

Happy President’s Day!

Thomas Jefferson is perhaps best known as our third President, one of our Founding Fathers and author of the Declaration of Independence, but he was also an avid wine collector, wine connoisseur and is widely-recognized as the father of the Virgina wine country (did you know about Virginia wine country?).  He also became George Washington’s [...]

Family – It is a warm word and an important one to me. I have had the fortune to work in this wonderful industry for over thirteen years and an even greater fortune to be here at Chateau Montelena for the last six. In fact that is one of the reasons why I came to [...]
