From CEO and Master Winemaker, Bo Barrett
This is a special day for us all as we celebrate our annual Blessing of the Grapes.
This day reminds us of the cyclical nature of our life, and the things we do in our chosen occupation, as we celebrate and give thanks for our blessings. We are grateful for the nature of the weather, our farm lifestyle and being able to give back to the Earth, and for the comradery and lifelong friendships that are created throughout this journey.
Today we acknowledge the wine, and the people that cultivate it. And in appreciation of the dangers that go into this job on a daily basis, for the hard work and long hours, we extend blessings to the hands of the workers that are crucial to our industry; without them and their supportive families, we wouldn’t have this day to celebrate.
As they say in the Catholic Masses: The fruit of the vine and work of human hands. This is a day we celebrate both.
At the end of it all, our whole job here is to create something which ultimately makes people happier. On behalf of Chateau Montelena, the entire crew, and our friends and family, here’s to 2016!
